The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), the Munster Technological University and Castel Education deliver the International Medical/Pharmacy Commencement Programme (IMCP/IPCP). The Programme is an integrated, streamlined and innovative approach to the preparation of International students for health sciences (medicine, pharmacy, physiotherapy) education. This successful collaboration has been specifically developed to prepare the International student for the learning experience within the Irish Education sector. It aims to support the student in an advanced learning environment that encourages innovation in teaching and research.
The Programme is a specific pathway for International students, who wish to pursue a career in medicine, pharmacy or physiotherapy. It takes particular regard for the need to provide an adequate foundation for students from a non-English speaking environment. Students complete the two semesters (1 year) of the International Medical Commencement Programme at the Munster Technological University and this is followed by either the six year medical degree, the 4-year Pharmacy degree or the 4-year Physiotherapy degree, delivered in RCSI.
