English Language Skills
Note: Please note the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Certificate submitted pre-arrival determines class group. If you have updated IELTS results, different from those submitted in your initial application, you may submit them no later than 17th September 2021 to ielts@ittralee.ie
The Academic Language Skills programme (ALS) and Advanced Language Module for Health Sciences (ALM) are designed to help and support you as you work towards improving your language skills and reaching your language requirements.
Progression to your chosen course of study is dependent on meeting its specific language requirements in the IELTS exam (International English Language Testing System). These exams are held at the end of each semester of the IMCP / IPCP.
Students are required to meet the following IELTS scores depending on their choice of course and university.
RCSI
Medicine - Overall score of 6.5 or greater, with no individual component (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) less than 6.0.
RCSI Pharmacy - Overall score of 6.5 or greater, with no individual component (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) less than 6.0.
NUIG
Medicine - Overall score of 6.5 or greater, with no individual component (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) less than 6.5.
Podiatric Medicine - Overall score of 6.5 or greater, with no individual component (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) less than 6.0.
Nursing/Midwifery – Overall score of 6.5 or greater, with no individual component (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) less than 6.0.
OT under NUIG;
Occupational Therapy - Overall score of 6.5 or greater, with no individual component (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) less than 6.5.
UL ;
Nursing- Overall score of 6.5 or greater, with no individual component (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) less than 6.0.
Paramedic Studies- Overall score of 6.5 or greater, with no individual component (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) less than 6.0.
